Reducing chemo related arthritis symptoms



Arthritis.org produced a list of foods that reduce inflammation.  As always make sure that the foods do not interfere with the effectiveness of the chemotherapy treatment.

Reduce inflamation:

  • Green Tea
  • Omega 3 fats  - Salmon,sardines, herring, tuna
  • brussel sprouts, cabbage and broccoli, spinach, kale (reduced osteoarthritis)
  • garlic, onions and leaks (reduced osteo arthritis)
  • Oatmeal, brown and wild rice, beans, barley and quinoa
  • Vitamin D and calcium
  • Olive oil
  • Blueberries, blackberries, cherries and strawberries
  • Walnuts, pine nuts, pistachios and almonds   
Increase inflamation:


  • Foods with Omega 6 fatty acids ( corn, margarine, sunnflower oil, egg yolks, sunflower oil)
  • Cheese 
  • Eating high temp grilled or fried meats
  • Processed foods
  • Salt
